You got it. Attention Deficit Driving or Aggressive Disoriented Hyperspeed Driving. I thought I could hide these morons behind simple mood disorder terms and get away with talking about mood disorders and life insurance, but alas I, and more importantly, my Dog, were nearly killed by one of these yesterday.
I never tire of the beauty and grandeur of the Heart of the Rockies, that area of Colorado in the Arkansas River valley where 14,000 foot mountains, blue sky and wild flowers suck away at the fast pace and stress of wherever you came from. This is no place to be in a hurry and in fact, if I were planning the vacation I would add a day, buy some high end binoculars, and just spend time in awe.
In my wildest dreams, because it seems that the ADD and ADHD above, are point A and point B driven, I wouldn’t think them a problem here, but what do I know? I just live here. So here’s the issue with being ADD, ADHD and point A to B driven. They have a tendency to not only ignore the scenery and take time to smell to roses, but things like speed limits and other cars don’t play into the vacation equation for them.
The death toll on our (US) highways on the 4th of July holiday is higher than at any other time of the year. This is often due to drinking and driving, but often due to the need for condensing the vacation into nerve wracking bursts of speed attempting to overcome traffic that, how dare they, are going the speed limit.
I’m sure you’ve all experienced road rage in one form or another, but if there was ever one that dished out its’ own form of reward, it is trying to beat the speed limit system. If the speed limit is 60, in this scenario, someone will glue themselves to your bumper until you pull to the side or they find a place to pass. They blow past like you are standing still and disappear over the next hill. They seem to have accomplished their goal.
Then you pull into the next town 15 miles down the road and up to the only stop light in 30 miles and there they are, right in front of you. They have put you, your dog, your family, their family and dog at risk of death and have gained nothing. Moron on steroids!!
Is this just venting? Sure it is, but these people who haven’t got the brains of a grasshopper also seem to be the ones that don’t buy life insurance. While that won’t help the family they kill, it might help some of their family should they survive.
Have a blessed 4th. May our country be forgiven for the crops of Morons we have raised and blessed for those who take the time to drink in God’s grandeur and relish in the love and protection of their families.
